Fairview Cottage originally was a company office and double garage built back in 1992 by Tracy’s late uncle, who then owned the yard and property to run his agricultural engineering business till 2011. The building was left empty till 2020 when Tracy and her husband Darren decided to renovate the property making it the holiday cottage it is today, which we are really proud of as a family.
Wickenby is best known for Wickenby Aerodrome, with a unique WWII history showcased in the Control Tower Museum. It's a must-see for anyone with a history in WWII or the RAF, especially when followed by a cuppa and a slice of cake in the cafe, watching the planes taking off and landing. It's also dog-friendly, so no one needs to feel left out. There are gorgeous walks and bike rides from the door of Fairview Cottage. The seven-mile cycle from the village to Nettleham is scenic in all seasons. National Cycle Route 1 goes from Wickenby to Lincoln, with another route going to Snelland. Having the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds practically on the doorstep means that there's always somewhere wonderful to walk or ride. Golf and horseriding are readily accessible, with Woodhall Spa offering the opportunity to swim in an outdoor pool. The Lindsey Rural Players are based in Wickenby. They have a full programme of amateur and professional performances, so see what's on during your stay and be sure to book tickets before you arrive.
